Money Saving Experiments

Experiment #1: Shredded Chicken over Lunch Meat

My husband works anywhere from 8 to 12 hours a day in the construction business.  So, if you can imagine, he needs lots of food to take with him for lunch. We regularily buy a pack of lunch meat ($4-$5 for the slimy, prepackaged, stuff) for the 2+ sandwhiches he takes, but I recently read a tip that suggested using shredded meat instead. One pack of lunch meat would maybe last a week. I found a killer deal for 6lbs of preseasoned chicken at a local market for just under 7 dollars. I cooked it in the crock pot and once it was done and cooled off I shredded it. I divided it into two and put one bag in the freezer. We now have at least 2 weeks of shredded chicken for him to use for all those sandwhiches :).
